Spago @ Kuwait city-opposite Souk Sharq

After our visit from souk sharq , as usual i was hungry so "B" decided to take me to spago where he said he had a tasty Philadelphia steak sandwich...
so once we reached there,we parked and ordered the Philadelphia steak from their barbeque's section , spago shrimp from seafood section and orange juice to go...
Yummmmoooooo!!! love the Philadelphia steak sandwich..the meat was sliced, juicy and tender...the shrimp sandwich was nice..and the orange juice was fresh with pulp just the way we like it.....

Peppes Pizza @ Holiday Inn Salmiya.

Last year we had gone to peppes pizza for dinner.... the weather was awesome so we decided to sit out... The menu looked very interesting and hard to choose from so we went for the buffet...
For beverages we had two granny smith apple flavor lemonade ,which was too good and then we went for the salad, soup, pizza's and pasta's....the buffet was delicious and had a good variety...and then we had desert which was a banana split with 3 scoops of ice cream (chocolate, vanilla & strawberry) sided with whip cream and topped with chocolate and strawberry syrup decorated with a small cocktail umbrella....
Overall, food was delicious... nice buffet!!

Chilis @ Mövenpick Hotel & Resort Al Bida'a

Last year we had gone to Chili's that is in Movenpick hotel-Al Bida'a...and here is what we ordered:
  • Starter: Tripple dipper (Boneless Buffalo Wings, Southwestern egg rolls and cheese sticks served with two dips and celery) & Cheese Sticks with a salsa dip.
  • Beverages : Strawberry frozen top shelf flavored ritas and Pina coloda
  • Seafood: Southwest cedar plank tilapia
Seasoned tilapia fillet topped w/chimichurri (cilantro, garlic & lime) sauce and house-made pico de gallo. Grilled and served on a cedar plank with rice and mashed patatoes.

None of the above was worth eating...i mean seriously bad food & beverages...and the fish had a weird smell...the only thing which we could eat was the cheese sticks but well who can go wrong with cheese sticks...overall, we didn't enjoy our food at chili's...

Al Boom- Upper deck "Diwaniya"

The duwaniya is the upper deck of the dhow..it is where we had gone for tea and coffee after our dinner...it has a a sofa seating area with small round tables and a glass cabinet with various souvaniours for visitors...which included compass and dhow bell and sea knots, mini replica of the dhow etc....

Al Boom- The dhow @ Radisson Sas

This Beautiful Kuwaiti wooden Dhow is in Radisson Sas...now it is also called as the marine meusum... i was excited as i was seeing it for the first time with "B" ...and also i havent been on dhow before...it was beautiful
About Al Boom :
Dhow or "Fat'h al-kareem" Boom is one of the biggest and the famous among Kuwaiti ships. It was built by Al-Estad Abdullah bin Rashid in 1913, It was a huge ship and was able to carry 5000 mun (375 Ton). It was found in Calicut (kolkota)...

In the year 1943, Al boom left Kuwait to Bombay carrying 44 sailors including Al-Nokhethah (Captain) Belal Al-Saqer in a trading trip. In the way home, Al-Boom faced big storm and drowned in the middle of the sea where no body survived except 13 sailors from 44. Captain Al-Saqer was one of who lost their lives. That year was called The year of the drowning (Sent Al-ttab'ah).

Al Boom has the Steak & seafood restaurant in the lower and upper deck...

Al Boom @ Radisson Sas "The Food"

Well We went for the evening's menu that was a valentine day special. which was also called as "Mezzah Buffet" our staff of Al Boom is dressed as traditional sailors ...

First we were asked for drinks...so we had two orange juice and for starters we had Iranian clay oven bread ith herb butter...which was very nice...and the salad bar was open to a variety of cold cuts....with different types of pickles and dips...

After the salad we were served with Lobster bisque with aioli croutons...well the soup wasnt very happening as it was getting too strong towards the end so we couldnt finish it...

Then came a Pink grapefruit sorbet with star anis on top...it was very sharp and strong...not something i would go for again...
For starters we were given a choice from Their sizzling platters... either Charcoal grilled-Lobster or Salmon...so "B" had the grilled salmon served with a salsa dip ,grilled mushroom, bell pepers, baby tomatoes and onions...and sides as fries and grilled vegetables and i had the Grilled Lobster topped with cheese and grilled mushrooms, bell peppers ,baby tomatoes and onions...sides as fries and arabic rice... It was a disaster... i didnt like it at all...my lobster was over done when i asked for medium and so the meat was hard and dry and not to forget bland...no flavors at all...the rice was equally bad...and the vegetable were sadly burned..."B's " Salmon was bland ..he couldent taste it at all...

After this horriable main course we were looking forward for something good...so next was the dessert...which was light raspberry almond mousse cake topped with a tropical tuille with a fan of fresh fruits to the side and a mint coulis and frosted coffee parfait....now this was good...not very happening but average...

Then to lighten it all we were asked to go to the diwaniya top stairs were they ould serve us tea and coffee...well followed by the horriable food was the worst tea and coffee ever....i mean seriously someone slap them for crying out loud....

Towards the end each couple was given a red rose on the occasion of valentines day...

Well overall i would rate the food 1.5 out of 5, Presentation of the food was good ,the seating is a bit too packed for us...decor is nice...service was good...
But i was Very disappointed because it was suppose to be a special treat for my "B" as it was our first valentines day...
