Chocolate & Macarons @ Arraya Complex

Yesterday after work, i treated 'B' in Chocolate and Macaroon in Arraya Complex ..

At first it was diffcult to find the place but then after 10mins we found it...
It has a nice interior... i liked the whole decor of the cafe... they had conical shaped macaron towers and a variety of different macaron to choose from...
First we wanted to try out the macarons so we went for 3 different flavor's i.e Caramel, Mocha & Donatella.... All were nice but B like Caramel the best...

Then B ordered Creme Brûlée (he's favourite) and i asked the host to recommed their speciality or the most ordered dish out of the menu...and he recommend the souflet au chocolate( signature dish) or the fondant... i went for the souflet au chocolate...(the preparation time in given on the menu..mine took around 15mins)

The Creme Brûlée is divided into 4 (vanilla, chocolate and 2 caramel) and the souflet au chocolate is served with vanilla ice cream... both of our dishes were delicious...My soufle was soft and beautiful had an amazing texture to it...
Later to take away , we ordered a small box filled with seven different macaroon of our choice...

interesting facts: Macarons are not to be confused with macaroons. Macarons are sandwich-like pastries made with two thin cookies and a cream or ganache between the cookies. Macaroons are dense cookies made either with coconut or with a coarse almond paste.

Dean & Deluca @ Avenues

Yesterday After spending time at Chocolate & macaroon in Arraya center we decided to go to Dean & Deluca....
Dean & Deluca has some of the best variety of food stuff...off course, i still love Our Sultan Center... :)
There are some really good products... i brought some chili turkey pepperoni for B and lobster and salmon for my dad.... and it was delicious...

The lobster meat was so tender and juicy and the salmon was grilled to perfection... Also the chili Turkey pepperoni was fresh and thinly sliced...

All of this came into a very reasonable budget....

Sultan Sushi & Tik dessert from Diet care @ Sultan Center-Souk Sharq

Yesterday, after work in the evening we had gone for grocery shopping in Sultan at Souk Sharq... after we were done with our shopping , i went to check the snacks(as usual)...and grabbed sushi to taste and a tik dessert(B recommended and it was yummmm)...

We sat next to the beach near souk sharq and ate ...on opening the sushi, a cat came running towards us (coz of the smell) and sat right under our bench .. eyeing the fresh sushi... (off course,B chased it away... )

This was our first time with sushi....well normally we wouldn't go for sushi coz we like our food to be cooked... eating raw fish wasn't our cup of tea...but i still wanted to try it out...

The box is beautifully packed with chop sticks to the side...It had soy sushi 10 pieces inside with soy sauce, pickled ginger & wasabi..also 4 pieces of Nigiri sushi(shrimp, crab & Salmon)

In Japanese cuisine, sushi is vinegared rice, usually topped with other ingredients, including fish dishes...Nigirizushi (hand-formed sushi). This consists of an oblong mound of sushi rice that is pressed between the palms of the hands, sometimes with a speck of wasabi, and a slice of fish called neta draped over it.

well B didn't like it at all.... he planned on not eating it but then i gave him shrimp and crab...he didn't like the shrimp at all...but he didn't mind the crab... on the other hand...surprisingly i didn't have a problem with sushi...it was alright...not very happening...but it was fine...

But off course my tummy didn't agree with me today...i have been having problems ...so in future i might avoid sushi...but i still don't hate it... :)

On the other hand Tik dessert by Diet Care was really delicious... usually i don't eat anything that is of low fat cause come on!!!! i need my fats... and its tasty... but this is really good... its like custard with pieces of sponge cake in the center, topped with fried vermicelli...yummm!!!

What more can we say..."we love Sultan" :)

Afrah Al Khaleej @ Farwaniya

Yesterday , after visiting the Museum of modern Arts at sharq....we went off to our daily destination "caribou" then before dropping me home...B took me to Afrah Al Khaleej for Samadi and Shawarma....
The Samadi over here is nice but we recommend not to order the shawarma's coz they are like really tiny in size... their service was quick...
The Samadi included fruits ( banana, apples, strawberries) with mango pulp ,topped with vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup and a frozen strawberry :)
B and me enjoyed our samadi....would definitely go back for more....

Smoke House @ Mahboula

Smoke house-Southern BBQ is an American BBQ restaurant, it is in Mahboula opposite to the Box hill college...its a nice small cozy restaurant with limited indoor and outdoor seating...the only problem is to get there...it is quite visible from the highway but there is no road to go in......its very difficult to get in...we were going around in circles searching for a proper road that would take us to smoke house...
There are no roads in Mahboula and its very scary...
well, finally when we reached the place we sat in and ordered our drinks ...B had the A&W root beer and i ordered the lemonade... then after alot of thinking... B ordered the Rib Eye Steak -medium well...(Rib Eye steak char grilled the way you like it! Served with your choice of Smoke House Gravy or BBQ sauce ) and i ordered the Grilled Chicken Breast (2 juicy chicken breast seasoned with our secret spices and grilled to perfection served with BBQ sauce, Teriyaki or Honey Mustard sauce) both the dishes had a slice of bread grilled with butter & French Fries as a side...
Before they served our dishes we were given a plate with pickles and three sauces ( BBQ sauce, honey mustard & chili sauce)
well the food was not very interesting... probably we didn't order right...but B didn't enjoy his steak...
Towards the end we had a pecan pie... which was nice...
Overall, food wasn't very happening...

Sbarro " Fresh Italian Cooking" @ Shamiya

Last year B had treated me at Sbarro in shamiya....i was very hungry after work ...

Topped with their sauce...
It was delicious... i use to eat at sbarro most of the time (the one opposite to Fanar)... well 'B' does not enjoy much of Italian food...But he like's Pizza's :)
but I love Italian food ....pizza's ,pasta's, Bruschetta, Stromboli's etc....
I learned most of my Italian cooking from Giada De Laurentiis ..she is an amazing Italian chef on food network...

Home Made Waffles

This Saturday "B" had a League... so after the tiring day i wanted to give B a sweet treat :) ..plus i had told my sis i'll make some waffles for her...so it was easy...mixed the batter ,poured it on to the waffle maker...and then once it was ready topped it with Baskin Robbins Classic Pecan ice cream and Eggo maple syrup....

what more can i say....but.... attack.... :)

Al Faris @ Matam Street-Salmiya

This Friday...B and me were on our way to Al Hashmi II(Radisson Sas) but the visiting hours were over ,so we were cruising in salmiya ...when i started craving for ice cream...then we decided to go to Chocolate bar in the Mövenpick Hotel & Resort Al Bida'a but it was too crowded ..then we thought will check out scoops which is near chocolate bar but we didnt get parking...finally B decided he will take me to a place where he use to enjoy this particular ice cream with his colleague...

So we ended up in Al Faris at Matam street in Salmiya.... which is next to Makarina restaurant...

It is a small shop with sorbets and traditional Arabic sweets..... there were around 9 different flavors to choose from.... it was my first time so i asked B which one is nice... the mango looked really delicious and i love mango...yummmoooooooo.... so we went for it

we both took vanilla and mango mix... it was really good... had a very different taste to it... definitely satisfied my craving..

Will be attacking the place soon :)

Rib Eye Steak House @ Crowne Plaza Kuwait

Rib Eye Steak House is in Crowne Plaza Kuwait...recently they have opened a new outlet in the holdayinn downtown salmiya.
We had gone to the Farwaniya Crowne Plaza, the place has limited but cozy seating arrangements and the place has a western cowboy theme to it...Also it had an open kitchen and drinks were served in big beer mugs except the martini...they also have soup of the day in a wooden tumbler...presentation was nice...i liked the theme and the decor of the restaurant.
This time it was my treat to B and i was hoping it would be nice cause my earlier treats went on to be a complete flop which off course includes Al Noukhaza and Al Boom...so i was hoping this wouldn't disappoint me...
we ordered the starters as buffalo chicken wings...which was nice... and then we were served a basket of assorted breads with 4 different dips....which was butter, avocado, Marianna sauce & i cant remember the last one...but all were nice...and then for drinks we both had the apple lemon martini..which is a real awesome drink....
then for the main course we had the recommended rib eye steak (medium rare) with mashed potatoes topped with the mushroom sauce and grilled vegetables & corn with onion rings....which was really nice...it was a big juicy one so we both shared one...

Overall, we enjoyed eating at Rib eye....
