Iftar At Munch

This weekend we had a get together Iftar at the Munch... previously ,we were hunting for some good iftar menu's for quite some time and i happen to receive a mail about the munch catering menu so i decided to contact Dana and check if we could have a menu prepared for 15ppl and at the same time i could review the restaurant as well :)
Dana was really sweet to take up to 15ppl on the house - Thanks dear!!
I was informed that munch BBQ and Munch Catering had an entirely different menu!

This was the menu set for us for the day!! each of us had a menu on our table and dates to start off...For drinks we received Soft Drinks in cans which i wasnt very happy about..we all would have preferred some juice!! but its ok :)
Soup:

At first we were served with some warm spiced pumpkin soup...which wasnt much of a crowd pleaser but we didnt mind it!
Salads:

We had 3 kinds of Salads:

  • Amira Salad : Feta Cheese, Dried Apricots and mixed lettuce brought together with their famous Munch Dressing
  • Buffalo Mozzarella and Avocado Salad: Serve with sweet and chili dressing
  • Moroccan Couscous Salad: lovely pieces of pomegranate, carrot and pumpkin served with chilled couscous.
The salads were beautifully presented in tall glass salad bowls. It was super attractive and colorful !! The Amira salad was topped with dried apricots which gave a beautiful orange to the greens and the Buffalo Mozzarella and Avocado Salad had bright white & red from the mozzarella and baby tomatoes ...last but not the least the Moroccan Couscous salad was jeweled with some juicy pomegranate seeds!! well thats one way to get the non -veg to eat some healthy veggies :)
I love Couscous but the best out of the 3 salads was the Buffalo Mozzarella and Avocado salad..i loved the combination plus the dressing was light and complimented the salad!!
Most of all everything was fresh and crunchy!! :)

Main Course:

  • Fasoolya Bil Zait: Green Beans cooked with tomato and garlic till softened
  • Fried Okra with yogurt
  • Date of Lamb with yellow rice : Lamb Shanks, and shoulders cooked for hours with dates and Moroccan Spices.
  • Laknore Biryani: Chicken Meatballs tucked under the rice, cooked with dried fruits
  • Sheesh Barak: Arabic pasta filled with meat and spices, cooked on a law fire with yogurt. Served with vermicelli rice.

Fasoolya Bil Zait was delicious..i love beans and this was beautifully made without taking the crunch and color out of the beans.

Fried Okra with yogurt was something that surprised me..i personally dont eat lady finger but this was really delicious...

Date of Lamb with Yellow Rice was hands down the best seller for all of us!! the Lamb was juicy , not over cooked and so tender...drool!!!!! the fusion of dates and lamb was just outstanding!

Laknore Biryani: second best of the main course, the chicken meat balls were perfectly spiced and juicy ....it compliment the rice !!

Sheesh Barak was nice but the Lamb and the Chicken stole the thunder... i accompanied this with some beans and it was delicious!!

Dessert:

  • Milk Chocolate bread pudding: Brioche bread soaked with milk chocolate and baked to perfection. Drizzled with more chocolate sauce
  • White Chocolate Mousse : Rich White Chocolate Mousse served chilled.
The Milk Chocolate Bread Pudding was yummylicious...i just love bread pudding and Brioche is perfect but i guess it was soaked a little too much..i prefer the texture of the bread pudding to be a bit more hard ..this was too soft for me..but overall it was satisfying and yummylicious!! it was only the matter of texture!! :)

The White Chocolate mousse was delicious but it would have been nice if it was served in small tart cups that would have given it the extra touch it needed...

Overall,

  • Cozy warm Interiors - including indoor /outdoor seating - (with Smoking)
  • Quality , Quantity, Presentation and Taste of the food was good
  • Open work station - For all those who love to see their food being prepared
  • Staff is friendly and helpful
  • The Catering Menu offers a good variety

Note: This was a private iftar for me and my friends to give us an insight to their delicious catering menu...so incase your planning to order..u can order it for delivery and its a must to book in advance .Also Munch does not serve Buffets !! :)

It was a wonderful day accompanied with good food!!!

Special thanks to Dana for providing my friends with a wonderful iftar!
Wasim Khan for some delicious photographs and Farhan and Dastu for getting us all together!! :)
