المملكة Al Memlika Restaurant in Riggae

A couple of weeks back my friends took me to this restaurant in Riggae called Al Memlika which means Kingdom and it specialize is Saudi cuisine.

Opened in 2006 and branched out in 7 different locations in Kuwait they serve breakfast, Lunch and Dinner as promised with fresh meat,chicken and fish.

This restaurant is nothing similar to the ones I usually dine in!! They have two separate restaurants, one for the bachelors and the other for families.

The family restaurant has cabins with carpet spread and cylindrical cushions as a hand rest.
One must take their shoes off before they enter the cabin and sit in...
The menu's are placed on the wall for your reference and once you place an order the servers come and lay a sheet on the floor and your dishes are placed on them. The only way you can sit here is cross-legged on the floor around the food and eat with your fingers sharing from the same dish. Plastic cutlery is available but you'll enjoy a lot more if you eat with your fingers :)

• Mandi Laham (Lamb with Rice) accompained with Salad & Gravy
  Maa’booch – معبوج and tomato potato gravy

We were first served with the greens(Salad leaves, white onion and a slice of lemon) and the Leban and then came in the Huge rounded plate of Lamb rice accompanied with the gravies.

The Leban was absolutely delicious and refreshing but needed a little churning as per my preference.

The only thing I did not like about the food was all the Fat on the Lamb,that was way too much of fat for me!! So next time I might stick to having Chicken. The rice was perfectly cooked in spices, raisins and pine nuts.

Among the two Maa’booch was my favorite as it added a bit more flavor to the rice and meat. (Maa'booch had tomatoes and green chilies in it)

This was how they served it to us, we all were eating together and spacing out out area.. It was something new for me but I truly enjoyed eating together in one plate with all my friends!!

Although they did mention it was a family restaurant, my presence there kind of got them uncomfortable and it was only me who was told to lower my voice and not laugh too loud..Kind of got me pissed since I was not loud enough to be told so (the guys were pretty loud) but I let go of it since I was way too much into the food.

The quantity was great coz we were 5 in total and all of us ate till we we exploded..

The boys really enjoy it and it's been one of their favorite spots for years now.

Overall,

• The Quality, Quantity, Taste and Presentation was good enough
• The Restaurant has both Family and Bachelors but far from each other which I believe is not convenient.
• The weird stares and shocked look on the entrance of a female in a family restaurant is not necessary but I guess they were not expecting me ;)
• Quick service - semi friendly staff
• The Menu's are in Arabic
• Reasonable Pricing
• Not a great location but Ample of parking space
• Delivery available
• Open for Breakfast-Lunch & Dinner

I would go back solely coz I enjoyed the food and once in a while I would not mind to sit down and share a plate with my friends... :)
